Dunfermline (/dʌnˈfɜːrmlɪn/
Scots: Dunfaurlin, Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Phàrlain) is a town and former Royal Burgh, and parish, in Fife, Scotland, on high ground 3 miles (5 km) from the northern shore of the Firth of Forth.
The town currently has a recorded population of 50,380 in 2012, making it the most populous locality in Fife and the 11th most populous in Scotland.
The ancient capital of Scotland, Dunfermline is steeped in Scottish History, where many Scottish Kings and Queens were crowned and later was the Birth Place of the business man and philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie. Most recently the grounds of the Famous Abbey and Palace, where the remains of William Wallace's mother lie, has been used in location for the new Robert the Bruce production starring Chris Pine in The Outlaw King.
